What is Kundalini Yoga?
Kundalini Yoga is a science. It works on the energy channels and meridians of the body, using postures, movement, breath, eye gaze, mudra, and mantra to activate pressure points within the body, enabling us to reach a higher state of consciousness and mental clarity.
Kundalini Yoga focuses on the rising of Kundalini energy. This energy lies at the fourth vertebrae and is dormant in most of us – until awakened.
The energy is often described as coiled up and sleeping (much like a snake). Through movement, the energy begins to awaken and travels up the spine through the chakras to reach the Crown Chakra at the top of the head.
The purpose of Kundalini yoga is to provide a modality by which people can achieve their maximum creative potential, free themselves from Karma (the lasting effects of past actions) and realize their life purpose.
All Kundalini classes begin with what’s called “tuning in.” This is done with a chant, recited in a seated position, hands at heart center (rub palms together first), eyes closed: Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo which essentially translates to, “bowing to the truth within you; your relationship to your own destiny.”
Whether you’re brand new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, Kundalini Kollective classes will leave you feeling less stressed, more invigorated, and with an incredible sense of clarity and calm connectedness.
Here are some of the incredible benefits of Kundalini Yoga:
Builds strength and resilience
Our true strength comes from our core energy, not our muscles. If our energy reserves are low, we feel weak in body and in spirit, and our ability to persevere through the challenges of life diminishes. With regular practice, Kundalini Yoga helps us develop a profound core of prana–or life force–and a reservoir of love inside. We gain the ability to depend on that reservoir to deliver the strengths needed to meet the daily demands of life.
Control your thoughts and emotions
Kundalini Yoga enhances your nervous system, balances your hormonal glands. It’s also said to purify your blood through increased oxygen levels, and ‘clean-out’ subconscious conditioned behavioral patterns. (such as insecurities and addictions)
This then gives you greater awareness and the ability to choose how you respond to your thoughts and emotions. In other words, with patience and practice, you can train your mind and body to not be so reactive. Not by repressing emotions but by developing deeper awareness.
Control and reduce stress
Kundalini Yoga strengthens and balances your central nervous system. If your nervous system is weak then you’re more likely to respond to unhealthy reactions of stress. During a Kundalini Yoga class and the deep relaxation that follows. All the nerve endings in your body are given an energetic boost.
You experience a deeply rejuvenating state of total relaxation where healing can take place.
Additionally, a daily practice gives you extra stamina and resilience, so you can handle everyday stress much better.
Befriend your Soul and Manifest Your Destiny
Kundalini Yoga gives you an experience of who you are when the grip of ego is released. It allows the depth of the soul to be felt and known. Begin to access your truth and create a strong connection to your soul and your soul’s work in this lifetime.
Kundalini Yoga is an experience of uniting the finite self with the Infinite. Once you gain this experience, you no longer have the need to look for your security outside of yourself. Your security comes from knowing who you are in relation to the Universe. You know who you are, and you can be you. You can leave the pain of past wounds behind, and manifest your soul’s destiny.
